Scott Redding...superstar

Got home from Whildon last night to watch the 125cc MotoGP race on V+...and what a good race it was. I'd said to Craig Linfoot how I'd be more surprised if Bradley won than Redding...which was, okay, a provactive and slightly obvious view...

But three things in particular impressed about Scott and demonstrated why I thought that about him.

1) that he was relaxed and comfy enough to take a birthday greeting for a friend onto the grid

2) he wasn't phased at all by the big guys leaning on him an… Continue

First race tomorrow

Home after a long day at work...waiting for Finley's dad to drop him off ahead of the racing at Whilton tomorrow.

I wonder how we'll get on?

I wonder if I can fit my pop-up awning in the back of the Cherokee, and if I need to take it? What alloy workbenches used for the 250's? Feel like a novice again.

Look like rain tomorrow, sadly. I hear Whilton is rather slippy in the wet - so might be pretty good learning for Finley - but I'm happy to admit a race weekend in the rain is not what I fancy… Continue

Finley gets his knee down

I can remember it like it was yesterday.

It was a New Era MCC club meeting at Cadwell Park. Sunny, August weekend in 1998. Park Corner, at the end of the back straight, on my first race bike - a 1991 FZR400RRSP. No. 49 of 100 official imports by Yamaha UK.

The noise of my slider touching down took me by surprise....I thought I was crashing.

I was so excited after the race, showing off the tiny scrape on my virginal yellow Texport knee slider (told you I remembered it well) to my girlfriend at… Continue

Suns out...so i'm going to play

Apparently this winter has been the sunniest on record....

Well it's far too sunny to be stuck in the office today so I'm going to take Fin to Surrey Minimoto for a bit of outdoor practice ahead of Whilton this weekend.

Seeing as he's never ridden on an outdoor track before should be interesting.

And cold.

It all starts here...

Just sent FInley's entry off for the last round of the English National Winter Championship at Whilton Mill this coming weekend (8/9th March 2008)...very exciting.

I hope:

a) his bike goes ok and we have no trouble

b) he enjoys himself and learns a bit from the regular juniors

Fingers crossed!
